Friday Playlist: Songs of the Summer

Moss Lime OXW

I don’t give a rat’s ass if the song of the summer for 2015 actually came out in 2014. I don’t give a rat’s ass if the song doesn’t have a big EDMesque drop or big pop hook. I don’t give a rat’s ass if you’re lactose intolerant. “Ice Cream Sandwiches” by Moss Lime is the song of the summer.

The Montreal sun-bleached post-punk trio released the July First EP on Fixture Records last fall, providing sun-rays just as the season’s shifted from summer to fall.  The minimalistic track has catchy lyrics, a classic post-punk guitar and bass riffs. If you’re looking for a pool-party Bud Light tune, don’t bother listening to this track. This song has more of a fan-turned-to-max in an un-airconditioned apartment vibe.

Watch for Moss Lime’s new album out on Telephone Explosion Records later this fall and catch them at Sappy in Sackville, N.B. this summer.

Here are a handful of other summery songs in Rdio and Soundcloud playlists.
