Happy New Year folks! 2014 is guaranteed to be full of new music, new albums and interesting news from Canadian musicians coast-to-coast.

Kicking off the first Soundcheck of 2014, Vancouver music event Winter Waste (the sister festival to Music Waste) announced its line-up. The event, which takes place at The Astoria on Saturday Feb. 1, will feature local bands such as Tough Age, Pups, and many others.

Known for channeling Hank Williams, Ontario born Nudie (from Nudie and The Trunks) announced his debut solo album Remember This drops on January 28, 2014. The album features minimal instrumentation, cowboy lyrics and gut wrenching pedal steel sounds. Check out the first single below:

Julie Doiron & The Wrong Guys announced their winter tour dates.
