All Roads Lead To Sappy II

Once again, Mixtape Magazine, is hosting an All Roads Lead To Sappy blog. After a great run last year with Shotgun Jimmie, Adrian Teacher and the Subs and Human Music, we’re back at it again. SappyFest is an annual festival held in the small town of Sackville, N.B. It turns into a music hub in the middle of the summer, bringing together musicians, friends and family alike. Obviously the music is super important, but what makes SappyFest so special is the togetherness. It’s like summer camp for adults, but with more booze and fewer rules. SappyFest IX takes place from July 29-31 this season and features By Divine Right, Dilly Dally, Hooded Fang, Julie Doiron and the Wooden Stars, Nap Eyes, Ought and a bunch of other great bands.

This year for the All Roads Lead To Sappy blog, we’re featuring Jay Arner and the humans in his band. The Vancouver band started their cross Canada tour with fellow Vancouver band Supermoon last night with a hometown show at The Lido. Jay Arner will check in with us a couple times from the road, documenting some of the hijinks between Vancouver and Sackville, N.B.

We messaged Jay Arner a trio of questions last night that he answered while packing his swimming trunks.

What are some tour essentials for the members of Jay Arner on the road?
Swim suit and van wine.
Who are some artists/bands/songs that are going onto the tour playlist?
I just bought a 160 GB iPod which is more than twice as large as all my mp3s and it turns out we only listen to “Hung Up” by Madonna.
What are you looking forward to the most at SappyFest?
Swim suit and van wine.
