In the Dead of Winter Festival promises to warm hearts and ears with star-studded lineup
This January, the IDOW (In the Dead of Winter) festival will once again grace the snowy, slushy streets of Halifax smack dab in – yep, you guessed it – the dead of winter.
The 2014 lineup was just announced and features Polaris short-lister and autoharp angel Basia Bulat alongside other internationally-lauded Canadian acts including Kathleen Edwards, Timber Timbre and even aboriginal throat-singerĀ Tanya Tagaq.
IDOW focuses on acoustic-based music in Atlantic Canada and the United States but also seeks, as part of its stated mission, to provide a space for artists to meet one another in a professional environment. In the Dead of Winter has been running for roughly a decade and also seeks to provide artists who haven’t had a chance to be heard with the opportunity to perform for a broader audience.
