Tuesdays are the day where we send you new music finds from across the country and share them with you. The Soundcheck is like little gift bags of musical goodness – just for you.

First of all, let’s talk collaborations. A collaboration between The Weeknd and Drake, that is. The single, released August 19, is titled “Live For”. It’s an R&B and hip hop mash up that takes a while to warm up to, but once you make it through the end, you’re bopping around in your chair, singing along with the chorus.

Toronto based synthpop band DIANA releases their debut album today, Perpetual Surrender. Using haunting vocals and peppy sounds, this band featuring members of Army Girls and Destroyer has been getting a lot of buzz across Canada.

Also dropping today is the latest from P.E.I. band Paper Lions, My Friends. This album is full of the pop rock songs that tell the stories of the band members growing up together in Belfast, PEI. Songs like Ghostwriters and My Friends Are Leaving incorporate some new intrument sounds for the band and use some maudlin lyrics. The whole album though, works together like honey and peanut butter – healthy and perfectly sweet. Here’s a sampling of what you’ll hear:

Known for adding strings for some epic tunes for Arcade Fire, Sarah Neufeld releases her solo album Hero Brothertoday. Packed full of songs that use the full range of her instrument the album swimgs from frantic and fearful to joyful and even, at points, sorrowful. It’s a rollercoaster of violin goodness, just remember to keep your hands in the car at all times.
