Throw Stuff At The Sun on Record Store Day
Vancouver artist Jay Arner has a new track coming out for Record Story Day on Saturday, April 19. The track “T.S.A.T.S.” is all about throwing shit at the sun (hence the abbreviation T.S.A.T.S.). Here’s to hoping #TSATS turns into the official summer hashtag. “Perfect day to #TSAT, I love summer #selfie). The release has a limited run of 300 on white flex discs.
Vancouver label signs Halifax band
Mint Records is a Vancouver based record label that has been around since 1991 and has mostly had Vancouver area artists. Over the past couple years they have branched out signing non Vancouver bands such as Toronto’s Pick A Piper and Edmonton’s Renny Wilson. Today the label announced its first East Coast band with the signing of Halifax’s Monomyth. Their new album Saturnalia Regalia! drops on July 22. The first single “Candleholder” can be streamed below.
Cool new video and unreleased music from Jacques Greene
Montreal R&B and house music producer Jacques Greene has a new EP, Phantom Vibrate, on its way on April 28. He recently put together a track list for a podcast from Little White Earbuds. The 71 minute set includes a lot of unreleased material of his and other artists including Partynextdoor and Drake.
Greene also dropped (then bounced in slow motion) his trampoline based video for “No Excuse” from the new EP.
Polaris winners team up to make you dance
Two superheroes of Canadian music have teamed up for two new songs that are dance friendly. Polaris prize winners Daniel Snaith under his dance moniker (Daphni for this release) and Owen Pallett have produced two violin based dance songs called “Julia” and “Tiberius”. The songs will be available on a 12″ record on Snaith’s Jialong label.
