Friday Playlist: New tunes from this week

It’s festival season and the Mixtape team has been busy catching shows. We ended up not posting a Soundcheck article this week, but don’t fret, we’re doing the ol’ kill-two-birds-with-one-stone trick. The Friday playlist this week features a bunch of new songs that were released this past week.

  • The Death From Above 1979 hype machine is in full effect as they gear up for more live shows and have a new album out September 9th. They shared the first single “Trainwreck 1979” this week.
  • Toronto via Alberta trio Rural Alberta Advantage shared “Terrified”, the first single from Mended With Gold out September 30 via Paper Bag Rercords.
  • Scion Sessions and label Arts & Crafts have started the Field Trip Discovery Series. Along with live shows, the series will feature limited edition 7″ records. The first one features 2014 Polaris long listed artist Fresh Snow.
  • Toronto rapper Tre Mission’s new album Stigmata comes out August 12. You can check out the new single “Real Grind” featuring Wiley and Andreena.
  • We’ve got a few other goodies from Zeus, Muneshine and Shad, so be sure to check out the playlist.
