Mix Picks: Colour Code gears up for East Coast Music Week

For P.E.I. pop rockers, Colour Code, East Coast Music Week is an annual highlight. Even though they will be missing their front person Sam Rayner (he’s in Southeast Asia at the moment), the band is still gearing up to play two showcases during this year’s week-long music event in Charlottetown, April 2-6.

Having formed in 2011, this five-piece band blends orchestral dynamics with indie-pop licks and tricks, culminating in thick and energetic tunes.

The band released their debut album Houle EP in September 2013. The album, produced by Paper Lions guitarist Colin Buchanan,  was met with critical acclaim. The band received Group Recording of the Year and Pop Recording of the Year nominations at the 2014 Music PEI Awards. While they didn’t take home either award, they did win New Artist of the Year.

You can catch Colour Code performing during East Coast Music Week on Thursday April 8 on the Music PEI Stage and Friday, April 9 at the TicketPro Pop/Rock Stage.
