Soundcheck: New music from Kevin Drew, Cousins, Delusion Victims and more

While the majority of the country is locked in a deep freeze, the music scene continues to heat things up and this week’s soundcheck features a number of new albums, new sounds and new music news. Let’s get started, shall we?

Cousins signs with new label, announces album

Halifax duo Cousins joined Toronto label Hand Drawn Dracula last week and also announced their new album The Halls of Wickwire  out May 13, 2014. The album was recorded with label-mates Graham Walsh of Holy Fuck and Josh Korody of Beliefs. You can stream the track “Mess” below.

New album from Delusion Victims

Newfoundland fuzz-pop band Delusion Victims released their new EP simply titled  EP ’14. Low points for originality in the title. High points for listenability.

Tour dates and new single from Kevin Drew

Broken Social Scene ringleader Kevin Drew’s new album Darlings comes out on March 18th. Today he announced tour dates supporting Feist including a stop in Halifax, N.S. Drew also released the second single “Mexican Aftershow Party”.

New single, new album announced for Michael Feuerstack

Singer/songwriter Michael Feuerstack released a new single yesterday from his upcoming album Singer Songer. The album, set to drop April 19 (Record Store Day), is a collaborative endeavour with nine of his closest buddies joining him on the album. The first single, “Friday Night Guard,” features John K. Sampson adding airy vocals over lazy guitar riffs.

New video from XXX CLVR

Weirdo Click’s XXX CLVR (Kid Clever) dropped a new video last week on Noisey for the track “#RIP#. The video, directed and edited by Halifax’s Steve Cutler, is from CLVR’s PMS Mixtape.
