Dog Day reunites for SappyFest as more artists announced

Every year, SappyFest delivers a little unexpected treat and this year it’s the reunion of Dog Day. The Halifax band reunites after a five years of hibernation. Nancy Urich has made lots of music over that time with Not You. The other half of Dog Day, Seth Smith, is a filmmaker and visual artist that’s also released lots of art the past half-decade. Urich’s bandmate in Not You, Meg Yoshida is in the new iteration of Dog Day along with KC Spidle, the band’s original drummer. Spidle and Yoshida also play together in Bad Vibrations.

Along with a SappyFest performance, the group also has a new album coming out, so keep an ear out for that.

Additional artists announced for SappyFest 13 include Nap Eyes, Boyhood, Cris Derksen, Ansley Simpson, Motherhood, Nick Ferrio, Ice Cream and Darlene Shrugg.

Previously announced artists include U.S. Girls, Jeremy Dutcher, Jennifer Castle and more.

We’ve added the new wave of artists to our SappyFest 13 Spotify playlist and will keep it updated as the summer progresses.

SappyFest takes place in Sackville, N.B from August 3-5.
