HPX 2015: Sorrey makes a playlist and answers questions

One of our favourite new artists of 2015 is Sorrey.  The PEI band plays HPX tonight at Reflections, 10pm. Here are a couple bands Sorrey thinks you should check out at the festival this week. And while we had Emilee Sorrey’s attention, we asked her a couple questions about her Thick As Theives EP that came out this summer.

1. How did the release of your album go? What kind of response have you gotten?

The release party was killer. It was a sold out show, packed house at Babas with great bands. Whaleskin, Cheerbabie, and new friends Beach Body joined us. The response has been great and we’ve booked some solid shows since then. We’ve been working on new music and a shift in the lineup because we lost a guitar player to Toronto. Bruce Rooney (Coyote) stepped in and our first show with the new lineup will be during HPX.

2. Will you be touring more when the tourist season ends on the island?

That’s the plan. Although winter is also a good time to hunker down and write an album. Looking at an early spring tour. Our weekends are freed up substantially now which is nice.

3. What do you have planned for your HPX show?

This is our first time at HPX as SORREY – we weren’t even around this time last year. We have a couple new tunes in store. It will be sweet to play to an entirely new crowd, and we’re looking forward to checking out beauts (who we’re playing with) and some of the other shows  while we’re over.

4. What’s next after HPX?

We’re releasing a video and heading back into the studio with new tunes. The first EP had a shift from a solo project to a band half way through, so it’ll be cool to complete something as a group from start to finish.
